Still (A Contemplative Poem)

by admin June 18, 2015
written by admin June 18, 2015

Sit down, sit still.
Close your eyes.
And listen.

Do you hear the whispers of the wind among the trees?
A bird playing games with the neighborhood cat?
The slow creak of the kids’ swing set?

Do you feel the dappled warmth falling on you?
The green grass pressing into your feet?
The beating of your heart again and again?

Do you taste the earthiness upon your lips?
The rain as it starts to sprinkle lightly?
The saltiness of your own soul’s dryness?

You are alive.
So be still sometimes.
Soak it all in.
