Hello Friends! First off, Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed my Year of Healing in 2017. I’m not gonna lie–I bit off a LOT in 2017, but I’m glad I was able to follow through with my heart and blog about healing to some capacity. There was a lot I just wasn’t able to get done, but I hope some of those posts helped you out. They are all located here if you’re interested in looking back through at the entire year of content.
I know that for me personally, while incredibly busy, 2017 was a pivotal year in my own healing journey, and I’m hopeful for the future. So with that being said… I have something new to announce in 2018!
It’s been a crazy few months, but in January 2018, I moved to NY. Not NYC, but an area called Orange County, which is about 2 hours away from NYC (Port Jervis, to be exact). While it may sound out a blue, it was a decision brewing for the past few months, and I officially decided to move last October/November.
My dear friend Abby of Flourish Body + Soul is opening a yoga studio in March, and she asked me to come teach with her. I jumped at the chance to offer an amazing, beautiful, welcoming yoga studio in an area that doesn’t have many options available.
So in January, I packed, said goodbye, and moved to NY. Talk about a NEW year! During the week of January 30th, I drove 29 hours, about 2,000 miles, with my beloved cat in tow (who was not happy about being in the car, but is settling in nicely into her new life)!
Driving across the plains of Kansas,
navigating cities like St. Louis,
inching my way through snow storms in Pennsylvania,
…and finally, making it to New York.
I officially arrived in New York on February 4th. I’m staying with a lovely couple for a few months as I get my feet under the ground here and find a more permanent location. New York has been beautiful so far. I love the wintry weather, but spring is just around the corner, too, and, contrary to some stereotypes, people in the area have been very welcoming and friendly.
Most of February has been a lot of physical labor and trying to figure out a ton of business details. But we are hard at work building out the yoga studio so that it can hopefully open in March.
The studio is an old karate studio, and there is a LOT of work to do. But we’ve already come so far (these photos are actually a few weeks old, and it’s looking way better).
Both Abby and I have a huge heart to offer healing, welcoming classes to people from all backgrounds and levels of experience. We are a yoga studio that will welcome anyone and everyone, and we will be offering a variety of classes–from Vinyasa flow to Restorative yoga to trauma-sensitive yoga to kids yoga. The yoga studio is also going to be offering row classes through Upstate Row.
That being said, I’m not exactly sure what my blogging will look like in 2018. What with 2017 being a pretty intense year, I am really, really tired and definitely needing to slow down and figure out where to pour my limited energy.
I have ideas and am hoping to continue to invest on this online platform, as well as do more YouTube podcasts and yoga videos. But for now, I wanted to at least let you know about the BIG change! Stay tuned…
